Starting therapy can feel like a big step. We've answered some of the most common questions here to help you feel more comfortable about the process.
CBT is helpful if you feel stuck in patterns of thinking or behaving that make you unhappy. If you find yourself worrying a lot, feeling low, or struggling with specific fears, CBT gives you practical tools to manage these feelings. In our first session, we'll talk about what's going on for you and see if this approach feels like a good fit.
This varies from person to person and the recommended number of sessions will depend on your unique treatment plan. A typical course of treatment lasts between 12-16 sessions; however what each person needs from therapy is different and may require fewer or more sessions. We usually suggest starting with a few sessions and then reviewing how you feel. There's no long-term commitment required.
We usually start by making a plan for the session to ensure you gain as much as possible from our time together. We focus on what is important to you and what is going to help you reach your personal goals for therapy. We will end the session with a plan for the following week, to help you make the changes needed to feel better.
